Invasive Plants

Below are invasive plants found on Maui. Use the filters to identify species and learn about their distribution. Some invasive plants are priority response species for MISC—if you find a priority MISC species, report it! Thanks to our funders, crews will remove priority species at no cost to you. For other pests, we’ve provided resources to help you take action on your own property.

MISC priority response species are selected by our committee based on impact, distribution, feasibility of control, and resource availability.

Definitions:

• Tiny: <2 cm — smaller than a fingernail
• Small: 2–6 cm — about the length of a house key
• Medium: 6–15 cm — credit card length up to a marker
• Large: 15–50 cm — longer than a pen, up to your forearm
• Very Large: >50 cm — bigger than a sheet of paper (e.g., miconia)
