This position develops and maintains a positive public image for Maui Invasive Species Committee (MISC) operations. Coordinates and directs the MISC PR and Outreach team. Oversees personnel on the outreach team and also provides oversight, instruction, and guidance for the Education/Outreach Program Associates, including direct involvement with scheduling and timekeeping, conducting personnel evaluations, and making hiring decisions. Assumes responsibility for communicating MISC’s work and the importance of invasive species management to the community and partners.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year university.
- Familiarity with Hawaiian plants and animals, natural history, and threats from invasive species
- Valid driver’s license
- Five to seven (5-7) years of experience in public relations or education related to natural resource management. Experience must include at least three (3) years of experience producing public messages using different forms of media, including print, radio, video, website, and television, and preparing reports.
Locations: Based in Pā‘ia, occasional work across Maui. Occasional weekend work.
Pay rate: $5,497.35 – $5,717.98/Mon.
