Pā‘ia-based temporary field crew (20 weeks)
MISC is hiring for temporary field crew members. Start your career in conservation!
The temporary MISC crew member will support CRB emergency response by deploying and maintaining traps, conducting ground and roadside surveys, inspecting green waste and other potential breeding materials, and responding to reports of suspect CRB adults, larvae, or damage. The crew member will document all findings with photos and required data entries.
They will also assist with other urgent EDRR needs, including surveys, treatments, site checks, and community report response, for species such as little fire ants, coqui frogs, and rapid ʻōhiʻa death. Work will be coordinated through MISC/MoMISC structures, with accurate recording of locations, trap status, detections, and follow‑up needs in the appropriate database.
No previous invasive species experience is required—we provide the training. If you enjoy working outdoors and want to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Familiarity with Hawaiian plants and animals, natural history, and threats from invasive species.
- Valid driver’s license
Locations: Based in Pā‘ia, work across Maui.
Pay rate: $20.50/hr
